A Spark of Inspiration

As modern life becomes increasingly fast-paced, many pet owners struggle to monitor their cats’ and dogs’ health in real time. Excretion patterns and eating habits are often early indicators of potential health issues. However, traditional litter boxes and feeders only provide basic functionality, lacking smart monitoring, data recording, and anomaly alerts. This can lead to kidney disease, urinary tract infections, digestive issues, and abnormal eating behaviors going unnoticed until the condition worsens. Additionally, many pets do not show obvious symptoms when unwell, and the stress of visiting a veterinary clinic can make diagnosis and treatment even more challenging. Early detection through daily monitoring has therefore become a crucial aspect of pet care, helping owners take proactive steps to safeguard their pets’ health.

According to Global Market Insights (2023), the smart pet device market is projected to grow at an annual rate of 20% by 2028. This trend indicates that pet owners are not only willing to invest in high-quality pet food but also increasingly prioritize health management. They seek smart devices that can reduce caregiving burdens and prevent sudden illnesses. However, existing smart litter boxes and feeders often suffer from limited functionality, high costs, lack of real-time monitoring, and absence of anomaly alerts, making it difficult to fully meet market demands.

Therefore, we aim to integrate AI image recognition, IoT technology, and Line real-time notifications to develop smart litter boxes and feeders, addressing key pain points in pet health monitoring and automated care. By leveraging AI for real-time analysis of pets’ excretion and feeding behaviors, we can track data trends and alert owners via Line in case of anomalies. This approach shifts pet health management from "passive detection" to "proactive prevention", reducing the caregiving burden on owners while enhancing pet well-being and quality of life.
